Shahid Khan, Partner at IBB Consulting, comments on Microsoft

Princeton Junction, NJ, February 7, 2008 — Excerpt from the Investor's Business Daily article "Yahoo, MSN Brands Could Both Survive A Microsoft Buyout": Microsoft's bid to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion is mostly aimed at competing with Google (GOOG) in search and search ads. But the combination also would bring together a host of online operations that can attract ad and fee revenue. Microsoft's MSN brand offers no fewer than 14 online services that duplicate Yahoo online services. To build its online revenue, Microsoft needs to get as many people as possible visiting its sites. Combining Yahoo and MSN services such as finance, real estate, video, travel, e-mail and instant messaging would be a tough but potentially rewarding process, says Shahid Khan, a partner for IBB Consulting Group. "There would be a lot of redundancy there," he said. "It would take two to three years to get it done."
